Cagliari, July 26th, 2025 – Just seven weeks remain until the eleventh edition of the Cagliari Urban Trail, the nighttime running event that winds through the heart of Sardinia’s capital. The countdown is well underway, and runners can still secure their race bibs at a discounted price until July 31: €20 for the competitive Race and €14 for the non-competitive Walk.
Organized by GLEsport under the auspices of UISP Cagliari APS and with the sponsorship and support of the Municipality of Cagliari, the event returns on September 13th, 2025, with its traditional format: an 11 km Race and a 6 km Walk through some of the city´s most historic, scenic, and iconic neighborhoods. The route includes paved streets, sidewalks, gardens, stairways, and off-road segments.
Early bird registration for the Race (until July 31st) is priced at €20 for FIDAL / Runcard members, EPS members, and international athletes. The fee will increase to €22 for those registering by September 8, and any remaining spots after that date will be available at €28.
Discounted registration is also available for the Walk until July 31, at just €14. This grants entry to the vibrant “fluo tide” that traditionally flows through Villanova, Stampace, Marina, and Castello. The fee rises to €16 from August 1 to September 8, and last-minute participants can register for €18.
Last year’s overall winner was Ismaele Deidda, a 20-year-old from Villacidro, who finished ahead of Pierfrancesco Aru and two-time champion Giorgio Calcaterra. In the women´s race, Enrica Pintor took the win ahead of Annalisa Falchi and Federica Frongia.
The organizers have confirmed a special guest for this year’s event: Marco Olmo, the legendary 77-year-old ultramarathon runner from Alba, Piedmont. A multiple-time winner of international endurance races, Olmo will not only compete in the Race on Saturday, September 13th, but will also speak at a pre-race gathering on Friday, September 12th, where he will recount his experiences at the Marathon des Sables and the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, complete with video projections.
The Urban Trail Run format originated in Lisbon and has since gained popularity across Europe. The Cagliari Urban Trail remains the only event of its kind in Italy. The initiative is supported by the Municipality of Cagliari and its Department of Sports. This year’s official partners include Despar Sardegna, Foniù, Playcar, Wall Streat, and USE. Additional collaborators include Deriu Sport, Sardinian craft brewery Doppio Malto, and The Runaway.
